Hopefully, you thought that the idea of a Quest is a better approach to how we should be learning, especially in STEM. You see, STEM classes are ones where we do a lot of searching. We search for answers, search for ways to do things. We do things wrong, and then we search for ways to correct those mistakes. We build things and then search for ways to do it better, to make it work better and do more with it. STEM is all about the searching.
It's a small change, and it's a simple change, but it is a change we are making in this classroom. There will be no assignments, only Quests. Some quests will be mandatory, and others will be optional. There will be a "main storyline" to follow, a minimum number of quests you have to do, but you can deviate from it as you see fit. If you're not ready to move on, you can continue to work on the Quest until you have it the way you want - an in turn earn the maximum XP for it. And not everyone works at the same pace, which is why Quests will be better than Assignments. With Quests you can search for your answers, search for the results and take your time getting there.
In our STEM classroom, our Quests walk you through a increasingly difficult set of tasks and learning, and you will see more about this on the Quest Levels page. But as you journey through this course, you will notice that the Quests start off with short, quick Quests worth a maximum of 25 XP in the Beginner Level and go all the way up to 150 XP on the final Epic Level. And there are some Legendary Quests along the way that will range from 75XP all the way up to 300 XP. The more Quests you do, the more you get correct and the more you understand what you did incorrectly, the more XP you will earn.
So now after learning about XP and Quests, it's time to talk about how the Quests are laid out in Quest Levels.
