Directions for beginner level
For the Beginning Level, you are going to be exploring three different core concepts needed for this course - Simple Machines, Mechanisms and then Structures. Here is how you should approach the activities in this level:
- MANDATORY ORDER - Do all 6 Simple Machines Quests (in any order), then all 3 Mechanism Quests (in any order) and finally the Structures Quest.
- Choose the quest that you and your partner will do.
- Click on "Student Worksheet" and read over it. This will give you a general sense of what the activity requires that you do. Then click on the "Mechanical Advantage" link to see the formula you need to help with the activity.
- Once you do both of the things in step 3, then get your Lego tub and follow the "Building Instructions" to make the device.
- With the item built, you and your partner each need to get the correct Student Worksheet from the binder.
- Complete the worksheet while conducting the quests.
- When you finish the quest and complete the worksheet, do not deconstruct the Lego. Ask for Mr. Hill to come over to your group so we can go over things together before you move on to the next quest.
- Deconstruct your Lego, replacing your parts into the correct locations in the container. Choose the next quest and follow the steps again.
